    British Alpaca Wool Duvets

British Alpaca Wool Duvets are made from the finest British Wool and are unsurpassed in comfort or quality.

Each duvet is handmade using luxury cotton covers and filled with soft lanolin free alpaca wool.

While similar to sheep's wool, Alpaca Wool is warmer, not prickly and has no lanolin which makes it hypoallergenic.

Naturally anti allergy and resistant to dust mites, wool also regulates body temperature more effectively.

The superior wicking properties of wool will keep you feeling dry and fresh while you sleep.

    Why Choose Alpaca Wool?

Our Alpaca Wool Duvets are hand filled in Lancashire, England to ensure that you receive the finest quality product that has been quality assurance inspected before it is sent directly to you. This luxury alpaca fleece is sourced from all over the UK. Buying direct from over 400 UK farms, the fleece is then expertly graded and prepared for use in our duvets. This stage of sourcing is critical to ensure we use the best fleece available in our products.

Alpaca Wool is right up there in terms of luxury as it is classed as one of the more noble fibres such as cashmere and mohair. The finest, softest and best, is known as white superfine alpaca. Each hair will be around 14 micron and should be about 4 to 5 inches in length at the time of shearing. This grade of fleece is also known as cria fleece, cria is the term for a baby alpaca in its first year. One of the many benefits of Alpaca fleece is the very low lanolin content which is super resistant to dust mites, which is also very good for any allergy sufferers. It is also a medullated fibre which means that the medulla in the centre of the fibre has fractured off as the fleece grows, creating empty pockets along the length of each hair.

This makes alpaca a naturally hollow fibre and makes for a smooth soft to touch fibre which is also durable and very temperature regulating, which makes Alpaca wool ideal for both summer and winter use. The lower friction between the fibres prevents wear as the fibres pass each other. All these properties give the alpaca duvet far less allergens than man-made fibres and most other natural fibres. The medullated fibre also gives the alpaca duvets greater warmth than other duvets but the moisture absorption and wicking properties means that the duvet works with your body at maintaining an ambient temperature and a superbly comfortable nights sleep.
