Edith Blackwell Holden inspired this range of luxury floral bed linen with its unique outlook on summer.

Born in the 1870’s Edith was to become a well known and celebrated British artist and author, during her career as a part time art teacher she started writing some of her more famous works.

The one we are interested in is the book The Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady in 1977.

Belledorm Country Diary Poppy

Some of her works have been exhibited by the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists (1890–1907) and by the Royal Academy of Arts in 1907 and 1917.

Belledorm have taken some of her floral summer designs and created a range of unique bed linen that inspires a warm feeling of the great outdoors.

Honeysuckle, Poppy, Orchard, Summer Meadow and Viola are the current five designs that you can choose from, each collection has the full room setting including duvet cover sets, quilted bedspreads, cushions and matching lined curtains. You can recreate the mood and atmosphere that Edith Blackwell was trying to impart on us all those years ago.

About Belledorm

Belledorm Country Diary Summer Meadow

Belledorm have for the last 25 years been producing some of the finest bed linen in the UK.

They have honed their extensive skills in getting the right fabrics to suit the right design.

With the Country Diary bed linen range they have decided to keep the costs down and use a high grade polycotton percale as their choice of material.

Firstly polycotton percale is easy to wash and iron and also the delicate printed fabric lasts a lot longer on a blended material than it would on pure cotton which can reduce the effectiveness of the bright colours when washed frequently.

With regards to the costs, they assume that once you have bought the first range you would be sure to want to complete the entire collection and five bedding sets can work out to a lot of money so to avoid customer disappointment cost became an issue.

Manufactured with a crease resistant blend of combed cotton percale and a high grade polyester, the fabric is soft and supple to the touch and can be machine washed at 40 degrees.

Belledorm Country Diary Sweet Orchard

The Midlands and Birmingham especially must have been a magical and colourful world in the early part of the 1900’s as Edith paints and narrates a truly magical world of flora and colours.

The joy of summers can warm any heart and make you smile.
