What Is Brushed Cotton Bedding?

Brushed cotton is a woven fabric that is, as the name suggests, brushed to create a soft, fluffy texture. Essentially, brushed cotton is the result of a process carried out on regular cotton that makes it much warmer making it ideal for bed sheets and blankets. Our luxury brushed cotton sheets are gently brushed on both sides to make it soft to the touch, making them ideal for both summer and winter use.

How Is Brushed Cotton Made?

Brushed cotton undergoes a very special treatment, which raises the surface of the cloth and exaggerates it to produce special fibres. This is done using specially engineered mechanical metal brushes which gently tease the fibres out from the surface of the fabric. This centuries old technique creates a beautifully soft feel, like a fine wool cloth but it is incredibly comfortable against the skin, absent of any itchiness which is ideal for allergy suffers.

What Is Brushed Cotton Used For?

This traditional brushed cotton technique raises the fluffy fibres so that they trap air particles which vastly improves the insulation and warming capability of the fabric. These raised fibres create a slight gap between the body and the cotton sheet, this allows the air in between to be warmed by our bodies and it is this effect that allows for a better heat transfer and allows the body to warm quicker and more effectively than standard cotton sheets.
